How Our ADR Process Works

Our structured process ensures thorough handling of your case, from initial consultation to final agreements, regardless of how complex it might be.

Here’s how the Compassionate Divorce ADR process works:

Initial Consultation

We’ll start with a Zoom conference involving all counsel and a psychologist to discuss case specifics and the needs of counsel.

Individual Assessments

Then, we’ll move on to private client meetings with our psychologist to better understand client/case needs and provide educational resources to clients, if necessary. After these meetings, the psychologist will share their case plan recommendations with counsel based on the needs of each case, which may include psychological testing and further individual or joint meetings with clients prior to or in conjunction with the mediations to keep the case moving forward and on track. And our psychologist will also meet with children to obtain the necessary information when it comes to custody matters.

Mediation Sessions

Mediation sessions will be tailored to the specific requirements of each case, ranging from two-hour meetings to full-day mediations. Joann will send a detailed mediation summary to the attorneys following each meeting to ensure everyone is on the same page (copying clients is optional based on the attorney’s request).

Follow-Up

In between mediation sessions Joann will follow up with counsel to ensure that necessary information is being provided/exchanged and agreements are being implemented and followed. We are available as needed in between mediation sessions to support attorneys and their clients to keep the case moving toward a resolution and to immediately address any issues that may arise with counsel and/or their clients.

Agreement Drafting

When a settlement is achieved, we’ll offer to draft all the required stipulations. Marital Settlement Agreements and/or Memorandums of Understanding can also be provided, if need be.
